Which car made you long for speed?

I never got to drive it, but a local independent Jag mechanic let me sit in and rev a XKE V-12 'vert. Oh the smoothness and the sound that motor made - very much like like the RR Merlin in the Spitfire or P-51.
Later, when I was buying one of my Jags, I came this close to test driving a XJS V-12 'vert. As the sales guy was getting the keys the car sold. In the end, it was probably a divine favor...
As a kid, I always liked '57 Chevy's and '67 Chargers. Ironically, the '57 Chevy's made decent race cars as they were lighter than they looked.
As an adult, I still like the X308 Jags. Classic Jag looks, classic Jag interior, wonderful Jag motor, Benz or ZF transmission, Jag suspension and Ford electrical system -- in other words, a Jag that runs.

It Lives?!
How??? Wha??? A deleted thread can do this??
I LOVE hearing about early car experiences...My own memories are pretty vivid. Especially the VWs back then.
Manny Martinez, I think you win for cuteness outright. But I love ALL the photos.
One of my early loves was a Kahrmann that looked like this one, and belonged to my brother who was still in med school back then. I still remember how it smelled, and how the engine sounded.
I was taken by surprise at Road Atlanta, when a friend drove over his cabrio . I guess there's no shame in shedding a tear or two for the love of a car.
My brother's car looked like a rust-bucket version of this.
This beauty took my breath away at Road Atlanta last October.

When I was 16 saw my first Jaguar E type on a showroom floor 4 years later I had my own worked 3 jobs, went to college each day, ate a lot of pizza hot or cold for breakfast, lunch and diner, but I drove an E type all day and all night

Man, and I thought the hood on the XJR was long. It looks like they took the trunk deck space and put it up front. Bet it made wonderful sounds.
Closest I ever got to owning something like that was a 1/16 scale model.

It feels dirty to admit it but I DO love American muscle.
