Small update: finally got the radio fully wired up and powered on last night (as well as hardwiring my V1). Still awaiting the adapter cable for the amp before I actually have audio.
The one mystery that has plagued me so far, in the connector for the radio one of the pins is for the antenna amplifier. I have two cables in there that are unidentified. One is a small wire attached to the antenna (wrapped around it) that is white. The other is a bare black cable (slightly thicker, maybe 14 or 16 gauge) that has been cut clean off.
Does anyone know which of these two it might be?
The other mystery, on the cable for the usb connectors/aux connector. There is a grounding connector, but I'm not positive where they want this terminal to slip over? Will post pictures later when I get a chance to get out to the car.
Small white wire is antenna, usb ground screws into the back of the head unit just above the connection.
So, just to answer your question about the amp, this would be my suggestion:
1-Remove all the non-original wiring in the front of the car.
2-Connect the power lead to the back of the amp (white plastic plug).
3-Connect the amp-to-radio interface (round plug) to the back of the amp.
4-Order the optional pigtail for Blaupunkt amp from the dealer, locate the original plug near the radio and connect to the optional pigtail (then can adjust the sound once the radio is operating).
I have read this thread with interest as I am attempting to install the Porsche Classic Radio in my '91 964C4. As I understand it, with the amplifier under the passenger seat, I have the hifi option. PO installed an Alpine headunit; I found the end of the amplifier cable at the headunit to be cut and spliced into the cable. Do you have a part number for a replacement cable from Classic Radio to the Blaupunkt amplifier so that I may use the pigtail adapter? Or should I wire directly to the speaker output coming from Classic Radio to the speaker wires/plugs coming from the Blaupunkt amp and remove the amplifier completely? Or should I change to an aftermarket amp? I have all new OEM speakers in the car. Appreciate any information.

Hi James-just as an aside I prefer the factory amp which is option #M494, it performs well enough and that keeps the car original which is perhaps more important to me than others Almost everyone suffers from some stereo shop hack job but be patient it will work out! The adaptor # for the factory amp is 911-642-209-01 plus some dealers like Suncoast use their own # SKUCR911BLAUPUNKT.
Also remember that although this amp was used in all the 911's they were also used in other P-cars and by other manufacturers as well, I picked up a few Blaupunkt specific wiring bits on Ebay where they are more readily available.
I think I am going to stop working on engines and suspensions and just do Classic Radio installs this coming year First one is hard, second one easier but by #3 its a piece of cake!
I just had the Porsche Classic Radio installed. Went from a mess to factory look. To be honest you really don't need an outboard amp. The internal 4 x 45 watt amp is more than adequate. Went from this;
I have found the adapter and understand the yellow plug connects to the Classic Radio, but I do not have a plug that attaches to the round black plug; it was cut from the cable that attaches to the amplifier. The old Alpine unit was spliced into the cable with RCA plugs. Is there a replacement cable? This is what terminates behind the radio along with a handfull of power wires.
