So spring is here, finally, allergies are kicking in, flowers are blooming and the sound of sports cars and motorcycles can once again be heard echoing through the valley.
Just as years prior, I'm hosting a spring fun run/cruise through New York. It's a morning event that ends in early afternoon allowing you to return to your family or weekly yard cleaning duties, whichever.
information
start: park and ride at exit 13 on palisades parkway
(Image to be attached in 2nd post)
time: Sunday May 7th, 2017, 830am direction hand out and departure. Mothers day is the 14th this year
The route: contains the following roads, rt106w, rt293, seven lakes drive, rt218, rt9w and more, it also has 2 stops offering scenic overlooks of the mountain and valleys surrounding us. It is approximately 100 miles of driving and around 3.5 hours, including the stops.
end point: warwick Valley winery and distillery in warwick ny. Link posted below

As mentioned above, this is an event I've hosted for a few years and seems to go over really well with participants.
faq:
- There's gas and food at the start point and a couple fueling spots along the route if needed
- Yes it skips the goat pass, I use that in the fall foliage cruise
- Winery is cash only(atm on site), serves food, wine, beer(fruit based ale), and is a lovely quite area to relax after the cruise
- I'm going to introduce an app for radio communication as phones don't always work
- Directions with maps will be handed out the morning of
this event is open to all makes and models, this is no longer porsche only. I've had vipers, corvettes, Lotus, maserati, nsx, supra, and many other makes and models come along. It's more about fun than the car, as well as respect. If you don't respect someone or what they drive you'll be asked to leave. Not everyone has the same walk in life but they have the same passion.

I hope to see some old faces and some new ones this year. Feel free to share the page or information to friends or on other forums, this is the only one it is posted on this year. Last year got rained out and fall ended up having way too many participants at nearly 70 leading to some organizational issues.

David - I was at the fall foliage cruise last year - it was a good one.
One thing I was thinking as an improvement, if you still want to run a super large group:
Could there be a way to send the route through via Google Maps/Waze or some other app so that it can show up on people's phones? It was a touch challenging to read the written directions while going at pace, in addition to that occasional stop sign, traffic light and what not where you inevitably might lose guys.

I'm working on that for this event. I'm also breaking the large groups into smaller groups each one having its own leader who knows the route. We'll all run together but in case of seperation, we will be covered. I'm also hoping that the radio app helps, a lot of issues with getting the group back toget her came from inability to reach people.
anything else you felt could have been improved, I'm always open to insight.
it'd be great to have you along on this one, which will likely be smaller to less pushing on my end

I'm doing one final test route on Sunday morning.
I'll be using the porsche GTS routes app. It'll track via gps my route and I can share it. This allows any participant to use the app in their car for turn by turn directions and a map with way points and all.
I will have traditional directions and maps too just in case.

I will watch this thread for the next event. I'm out of town for the next three weekends. Your route sounds like fun. Thanks for putting this together.
