Default gt4 and spyder wheels not forged...

Placed my order for Forgeline wheels today.

Will post a picture of a broken GT4 wheel tonight.

Somehow the little voice in the back of my had been saying, you should put forged wheels on this car...

As far as I know, only the optional Turbo wheels (which I have) are forged on a 981. I thought only the Technos were, but they are not. And this is from the Suncoast wheel page. And only the Technos and Turbos are 1/2" wider than the rest, except Spyder and GT4, which are the same 8.5" at the front, but wider at the rear... but not forged indeed..

May I ask how it broke? If it was an impact, even a forged wheel could break; they're not indestructible. If it was just G-forces, then forged would help. But there're many factors that significantly increase loads on suspension and wheels beyond what they were designed to withstand, like slicks. Don't remember if GT4s come with summer or cup2 tires, like GT3s. Curious what broke that wheel. And glad nobody was injured. How about the car? What other damage it sustained? Thx.

Forgeline is a good choice. I have a good experience with them, on the S2000. How did the rim break? That's a complete destruction!

It looks that way; that's why I was asked. Forged wheels wouldn't prevent that. It must have been a really hard hit. Guess he needs driving classes instead of forged wheels.

That was an OEM GT4 wheel? wow, I'm pretty impressed that it broke like that. I could understand if it bent to hell, but snapping from the barrel is something else. I assume this was on a race track when it happened?
