Fabspeed sport headers, awe switchpath and straight pipes - so tomb stone and garbage can deletes. I would like to know about what your experience has been in regard to sound, drone, power gain or loss, deafness, neighbors screaming at you at 5am, as you leave for work, little kids either running away or toward the sound, etc. My m5 v10 was straight piped after cats and it was awesome with a little hearing loss. thank you in advance

I can help shed some light on this. I ran side muffler bypass pipes, with stock cats, and center muffler only. The tone was good, but cold start was annoying to my ears.

You're talking about essentially running straight pipes and high flow cats. That leaves no option to quiet the exhaust when you don't want to make noise.

Do you have an "S" or a sport exhaust?

My impression is that with something like the AWE, you can get 95% of the volume without committing yourself to all loud, all the time.

I wouldn't recommend a straight pipe, cat back system unless you are prepared for a good deal of cabin noise and some angry neighbors giving you the nickname "Captain Cold Start" lol. I would recommend our Sport Headers and Valvetronic X-Pipe. Our X-pipe not only eliminates the center muffler, but allows the exhaust to bypass the side mufflers as well in the valves open position. Valves closed goes through the side mufflers fully for perfectly comfortable cruising and neighborhood sound level. True mild to wild at the push of the button that is nicely accentuated with the addition of our Sport Headers. This is where the majority of all the performance comes from on the exhaust side, and add our Protune and you'll have 90% off what that car's potential is save for the plenum and mufflers making up the last bit of performance potential.
