I'm going to refurbish my oval dash, but have yet to take it out of the car so there is one thing I'm wondering about (although I think I know the answer as well). I have the opportunity to buy a good dash with no cracks but it is black on top and black on the bottom. Mine is black/beige and I want to keep it that way. Is there any realistic way to swap the bottom parts between the two dashboards?

No, but there are some very good vinyl paint options out these days so you could paint the bottom parts in the color-matched beige. I've not done it but I've seen very good results.
Thanks, as I suspected then. I'll just stick to the original plan to take out my dash and put new vinyl on the top. Don't think I'll come by vinyl paint easily here in Sweden.
Once out they are VERY easy to recover, I did the lower half of mine to match my roll cage.. I covered it in Alcantera, Sorry about the crappy pic, BTW This Dash was JUNK when I started, I had to put new foam in spots.. I recovered the top in Vinyl before the alcantera to give it some structure.. It was my first attempt at upholstery and I figured why not? Its only a race car.. I have $300 invested in it..
Yes, I understand that it's quite easy to do once it's out. I'm looking to keep it as near original as possible without getting ruined in the process
That looks great in a race car though
