There was a stretch of highway on RT 190 a few miles from Olancha that was so straight and empty that I got a chance to drive...well, yeah. It was very scenic.

This was just a road trip to see where the old Joshua Tree once stood. The tree fell down in 2000 from old age and now it's just a memorial spot for big time U2 fans. Figured it was worth a road trip in the Porsche (my first in this (new to me) car). It really was an amazing day. Great driving weather, lots to see, and my Navy colleagues keeping me company as I hiked around.

500+mi 2-day break-in escape
This was a good get-acquainted / break-in escape. Once I left the urban jungle behind, I always find endless deserted roads with superb surfaces....and NorCal is Green half the year! Tiz the season for greeeeeen. Yeah, many of you have green all year...we don't, so we have to take advantage of it when we can. SF BayArea out east through special roads in the Delta, Central Valley, Sierra foothills, up into the Sierra, and then back across west. I'm beat. Interesting car. I opted for low-res volume photo set rather than just a few high-res here.....for diversity. Didn't have enough sun for good color, but you get the point. Thanks again to all of you who post into this thread...it's always great to see!! unkie

The skies were crystal clear and the Delta full of life.
I spent 14 years back East in CT and NYC.
Don't miss it at all.
