I understood up till; "death with my ***.", verbiage
Punctuation was a tad lacking, also.. ; )

Re Durametric: Even with the latest software download and up to date hardware OBDII connector; I've yet to see it reset a 993 airbag light.

Fairplay and a tough crowd here geez but I had it coming. Matches my experience. Reset but the warning light came back right away. Installed what i recall to be a 964 cup jumper that solved it.

Not many dealers have 993's in their shop, and even less 993 owners take their cars to the dealer; so unless you saw the other car, it seems unlikely they would:

1. Check with another customers airbag.

2. Be unable to check the airbag for functionality.

3. Not want to sell you a new airbag @ full pop dealer pricing.

Take your car to a qualified 993 independent, with a Hammer, PIWIS, or PST2 diagnostic tool. To my knowledge, the Durametric diag tool lacks the functionality to reset the airbag light, despite site claims.

If any 993 owner with a Durametric tool has reset their airbag light, it would be great to read the proceedure they used.
+1
What he said.

Seriously doubt the dealer would use another customer's airbag and if they did I wouldn't trust them with my car. More likely they would like to sell you a new airbag.

Find an independent with hammer or piwis and get them to reset it. I did the same thing you did and durametric did not work for this, but an indie did it no problem, $35 and solved.

I had issue similar to yours and it was related to the airbag plug.

Double check and make sure the harness is locked in.

I have never heard of an airbag going bad, short of the takata trouble.

Also, why didn't the airbag light go off before??

See if a fellow Porsche guy in your area can reset it for you. Durametric can handle the reset.

I use the older software that is on their site and backward compatible to their older cable. I can reset the airbag light via the regular code reset function. I seem to recall I used the 964 menu to do this as the 993 menu could not access the module.

I was able to reset the airbag fault on my '95 using the Durametric tool. I inadvertently reconnected the battery when I had the driver's seat removed, causing the fault. No special procedure required. After the seat was reinstalled, I just clicked on the selection to clear the fault codes and all was well.
