Maybe I spend too much time looking at forum posts but I get the sense that 964s may be the most modified old 911 model out there. I wonder how many manual coupes are left in unmolested states i.e. that could easily be put back to original?
I think it's a riot... but the hulls themselves are becoming pretty valuable aren't they? Rat rods can be pretty neat, and I dig the cheekiness of taking a car with all the pretense of a 911 and just ripping it up.
That said, purists go crazy. My friends own the Phyllis Yes 911S and they get constant comments about the paint job, which is mild in comparison to this kind of thing.
not my cup of tea either. i'm far from a purist, but i fail to see the appeal in any dimension. like lady gaga coming out with steaks twirling on her head...anything to get attention, but she actually has talent.
