Default Amperage for Window Motor Testing

Hey all,
I've finished up the cleaning of my window motor assembly, and would like to thoroughly test out the function before I turn it back in.

I picked up a
variable voltage power supply from Amazon variable voltage power supply from Amazon
, and was just about to plug things in, but I realized I don't know what amperage to set it to....I really don't want to fry the motor and/or the PS due to not asking so...

Can anyone suggest what I should set it to?

(need to clean things up a bit more, but things turned out pretty well after a bunch of scrubbing)

Well, the motor will pull what it wants to, you only need to feed it 12-14v...you dont feed it amps.

The voltage needs to be set to 12.6 and the amperage doesn't matter as long as your power supply is capable of producing enough. Set the amperage high enough so you don't see a voltage drop of more than .5 volts.

Thanks, gents. Plugged in, and all good.

And wow...what a difference the cleaning in the motor/actuator has done to speed! W00p!

**Edit**

Thinking about this a bit more, and trying to channel my 19-year-old-self-sitting-in-electrical-engineering-self-at-U-of-Illinois:

V=IR. We know that V=12.4 (set on the unit), the amount of resistance in the circuit will be whatever is present, so therefore the current drawn will be whatever is needed to achieve the 12.4V

Speed increase may be due to no load condition and you don't have the voltage drop associated with you cars harness and switches.

Yup. My assessment of speed was based upon the prior testing with a wonky, self-made PS unit.
