Has anyone found a moderately priced aftermarket double din nav unit which matches the OEM red lighting of the 996 dash. It looks like the Kenwood units will allow you to run the buttons in red but they are on the higher end of the spectrum.
Might be able to live with white illumination and looked at the Alpine INE-W960 and the Blaupunkt San Antonio.
If you goals are moderate price and nav with variable illumination, I would see about getting a hold of a Pioneer AVH-4200NEX unit. It's not satellite-based nav but it does have Apple CarPlay/Android auto for mapping. It's also a great unit with variable illumination that can look great in the 911 dash. Here's one in a 997:
You can still find those around for about $495 from reputable online source like Crutchfield. If you want built-in nav, you'll spend about twice that on the AVIC-8200NEX, but you get a much better screen and higher quality buttons, too. If the latter interests you, I still have one left in stock here.
