Just get this and move on to the next item on your list (no affiliation).
You need the CDR-220 which is the exact unit that came with the car.

Or if the CR-220 isn't old school enough for you, check out the CR-210. That came in my car, plus the ever so useful cassette holder! And the hi-fi system. 75% of the center stack space devoted to a worthless audio system! Oh, and a CD-changer and amp in the frunk. All that stuff is in a box in the garage now. Not sure if it's worth hanging on to those parts or not.

That looks great! I've done almost the same thing. Please excuse the colors in this pic, my phone cannot handle all those shades of red and pink! Also, I've added new black floor mats since I took this photo.

Looks good Chris... I'll be tackling the console delete soon as well.
I need to relocate the HVAC up to where the cupholders currently are (will be purging those!). but I also have the multi-CD load accessory, and have no idea where I'm going to move that.

Get the Porsche classic. If your car is in great shape its an excellent addition. I love having a great drivers car with added not overdone modern amenities.
That radio will probably holds its value and if you ever sell your car you can sell the radio separately and recoup most of your money.
If you buy it post pics of it installed!

One thing I really like about Blaupunkt aside for the value and audio performance, is the design is less spaceshipish. The matte black look and *real* buttons match the look and feel of the 996's center dash area nicely. Here's my setup. My car came stock with the 10 speaker/6-chan "Hi-Fi" setup. Which means there are bass enclosures in the doors.

Any details on your deck? Link?
Thanks!

I think B3freak has the best setup. I liked it so much I copied....I have the MOST system in my 2004 AE so I also ordered one of the converters for the fiber connection input.
I appreciate the simple or as-close-to-factory as possible. The reviews on the receiver are pretty decent to!
