I am sort of pleased to see California offer black plates again . . . it totally extinguishes the original black plate's value on a collector car to most people.
I no longer seethe with inner hate at my long deceased mother as I renew my California registration on my 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 that I have owned for 49 years. When the seven digit plates came out in California in 1981, my dear mother took my original JTC 589 black plates into the DMV and swapped them for personalized blue at the time plates with my name P COWPER on them as a Christmas surprise.
Each year as I pay the $25 premium on my registration, now up to $35 in California, I silently weep for my lost original black plates that used to mean a survivor collector car.
So the "new" black plates in California showing up on brand new cars are beginning to salve my anguish.
Sticking with the Disney theme noted above but a little different take........yup, and I never thought I would either.... explanation (for those too young to know) ......tried every version of e ticket I could think of........
Where did you get that frame from? Looks really nice.
It's short for E tickets...... the tickets used at Disneyland (back when they used tickets) for the fastest rides that were the most fun.
I sometimes use the phrase, "it's an e ticket ride." Often requires explanation.
I also like "Mr Toads wild ride" as in "we took a Mr Toads wild ride on the way back." It's a reference to a now decommissioned Disney ride that was quick and a little herky jerky.

My cousin had a really neat little Datsun 510 that he had built for the track/street. His license plate was E TKT RID. Loved it and always wanted to have something similar.

eBay...... the seller is unique karbon..... I am really pleased with it. He can custom make it for you....not cheap.
The only way to have no front plate around here is to order a Special Interest plate, and with that you choose what it is. Excuse to get a vanity plate i guess.
