Hi folks. Just wanted to introduce myself.
I'm sure my story is nothing out of the ordinary. I am 45 years old, and I finally fulfilled the dream this past Saturday. I took my first ride at 8 years old in my best friend at the time's father's 1972 911S in Dalmatian Blue. Riding in the back seat, hearing the flat six, smelling the oil and leather and the unique ride never left me. I have driven many over the years, from SC's, 3.2's, 964's, 993's, 996's (Turbo's and GT3's), but the time was never right.
Last week, one of the my wife and I's long time clients informed us he was looking to sell his 2005 997 Carrera. I asked him if the IMS had been updated and he informed that it had this past April, even though the original looked fine upon inspection. It was the right color, Arctic Silver with black interior, had PASM, Sport Seats, Xenons and 19" S Wheels. It only had 28,500 miles. I took it to my friend who works at the local dealer where I live the next day. He is a long time employee, has 2 993's himself and is the only one at the dealer who is certified to drive the 918 and the Carrera GT. The man knows what he is doing behind the wheel. We went out, he did his thing, and said it sounded and rode just like it should. He thought it was a good buy and my wife pushed me to get it, knowing this was THE bucket list item for me that I waited so long for. I am lucky to have such a great woman as my wife. I bought it the next day.
I am very excited to get to know you fellow owners and am eager to learn. I still am checking in the garage to make sure I wasn't dreaming. What a bloody great feeling! Pictures soon.

Welcome.
Welcome to the place where oil is a religion, bore scoring the Devil, logic and reason flow wonderfully on foundations of sand, and the wisdom of "my mechanic knows more than your mechanic" duke it out daily. Then every once in a while, you learn something really valuable like you can change map size by turning the **** on the right.
Oh, and get a torque wrench and learn your basic values.
Peace

Comanche, I apologize for missing your question. Better late than never I suppose.....
Favorite thing? The feeling of fulfilling the dream and reflecting on the history and heritage of, in my mind, the greatest name in racing. It's humbling.
As far as a tangible thing? Rowing through the gears and hearing that flat 6. Favorite visual? That ***! Mercy! Yes, I'm talking about a car.
