8000+ produced globally

so the 9000 the thread starter heard is absolutely possible and even very likely

Production started in May 15?, take out the 911 Turbo and S, the 1 in every 8-911s that is Targa. That leaves 13 other variants of 911, I make that for the 9k to be correct one in every 3 911s is an RS........

Good luck with that.......

not sure what you are calculating here but just think of how many GT3 they produced in a much shorter time frame due to the engine issues

also please consider, those are global numbers, not just US

Lots of cars coming out right now. It looks like the last rush before the new year. It's up to 193339 now. I have around 1380 cars with 140 missing.

Adair, I don't think I've found your car yet.

I don't know if I'll ever have the time to actually make a full database like they did with the GT4 as I had originally intended to do. It's a lot of work with very little benefit.

Seranad, do you have an RS, are you trying to buy one? I don't know where you are getting your information but 8000 seems unlikely. With 18 months of production and say 21 days a month they would have to be building 10% RS's per day. Have you been to the factory? If they built 8000+ RS's why are they only sending <1500 to the US, one of the largest markets and the one with the strongest demand?

No point to argue with guys who probably saw 2-3 cars at the same track day and then concluded that there's a lot of RS cars around.
There's more than 997 RS but not as many some guys are saying.

^I think that depends on where you live. I would imagine that in some major cities, the RS sightings are more prevalent. During Spring/Summer in Toronto, you will see many RS driving around day & night.

They would need to build 20 a day no? was your 10% a typo?

have been to the factory many times, i live not far :-) multiple friends working at porsche, 2 driving an RS, one is pretty high up in the ranks, i trust his words 100%

i used to own a GT3 and am looking to buy the new one when it comes out, i did look at RS in the second hand market for a while and have seen prices go down quite a bit over the last few month

also can confirm that right now a lot of cars are still coming to market, i do belive they build way more per day in the end than at the beginning but that i havent confirmed, just a theory

p.s. i think 1500 for the US sounds reasonable and does not imply the 8000 globally are wrong, even if the US is the single biggest country in terms of orders which they might have been or not this time for the RS :-)

i dont count RS on the streets :-)
my number comes straight from porsche and i only felt compelled to agree with the thread starter who stated 9000 he had heard and i said its not totally unreasonable :-)
i woudl rather ask why guys who own a RS are insulted by a higher than expected production number? :-) i personally think its great porsche produces so many of those cars, i much rather have plenty of GT3 and RS around to buy and enjoy than the limited runs like the R which i cant buy and never see on the road.

I'm not upset about high or low numbers, but I do have one. I'm just trying to report numbers based on more than what one person heard/said.

Last I heard they build around 220 to 240 cars per day now that they are building Caymans as well. So 24 cars x 21 days x 18 months = 9072 cars. That is 10% assuming 21 days a month (no Saturdays) and I'm not counting Augusts. Does this sound right to you?

As you've been to the factory you know RS's require special attention on the production line to install the back windows on the ROW cars as well as the carbon fenders. I think the number is closer to 12 to 15 per day.

ahh, okay got it
i think your calculation are pretty spot on

i can only guess they produced a few more in the end to satisfy demand and why wouldnt they try to squeeze in a few more for 200K Euro a piece :-)

They are certainly building more for the US right now just like they did with the 2016 GT3's. No one should be surprised by that. December may be one of the top 3 months for US RS's. I think some people hear about extra production and think it is thousands of cars but it is more like a couple hundred.

Don't forget they are also building R's right now and I believe some GT race cars as well.
