For everyone's reference, here is a dyno curve of 991.2 C4S stock versus with our Sport Headers and Sport Cats, feel free to analyze however you may like. Given peak numbers at 375whp from the advertised 420hp, this would dictate a drivetrain loss on our dyno of approximately 10%. Calculated crank horsepower from the 407whp with our exhaust upgrades would be just short of 450hp. Tuning will be available in early 2017, and we expect big numbers to say the least.
The point being the S with and without power kit are impressive and in daily driving rpm ranges the S has so much more torque available relative to the GT3/RS and this is reflected in the massive disparity in power at 4000RPM.
(PS electric "turbos" have been around a long time in fact Subaru has a patent on one )
Yeah, given the .2 chassis tweaks also help, this range comes a lot closer to showing the track performance is very competitive. I expect the .2 GTS to significantly outperform the .1GT3 on the track and have tremendously more torque for street driving. All with back seats and a daily driver oriented setup - an excellent driver. It will be interesting to see if the .2GT3 is any faster than the .2GTS - or if they even try to make it faster! This may be a transition point for the 911 range.
I really enjoyed my 997 GTS, and it's great to hear how much better they get with every generation step and half step.
I couldn't quickly find that Subaru patent, but that sounds interesting.
I was hoping the work rumoured by Audi plus sharing between VWAG would have resulted in the 911 range receiving larger turbos with 50-100 ms spool lag due to a high torque electric prespool (maybe driving a shaft gear on the intake side). It might take a larger 30hp+ motor though. Googling I found this link - it sound like they have a 10hp electric motor spooling a 70k RPM turbo over 0.25 seconds. Not fulfilling my dreams, but great as a start and a good fit for the turbodiesel SUV they paired it with. Will be neat to see where this tech goes in ten years. http://www.greencarreports.com/news/...aid-efficiency

Yes, the 991.2 GT3 will be faster than the GTS on track. It is rumored to be as faster or faster than current RS.
Interesting - then that's quite a step up across the range!
Yes the rate of progress has been pretty brisk lately and some of the credit for the future 991.2 GT3's improvement is owed to the new Carrera S (and future GTS) pressuring it so hard lately.

And let's not forget the gap-closing done by the Cayman/Boxster in 981 and 718 generations, which puts upward pressure on Carrera.
Power kit availability 06/17 in Porsche speak is week 6 of 2017 which is February. Suggests that GTS may debut in early 2017 which would be the Detroit auto show. May explain why LA had so little on the Porsche stand.
I'm speculating that the .2S with the power kit and .2 GTS might just be faster than the .2 GT3 in the straight, but at the corner that's where they lost out to the .2 GT3.
It would be interesting to see the comparison between these when they come out.

I would love to see a similar graph, if you have one, of the 991.1 with and without the fabspeed products.

BTW, if the powerkit won't be availabile until 6/17, how long after that do you think the GTS will be available? 6 months ? A year ?
Made some calls. Some interesting and surprising intell.
European dealers get price lists and configuration details for GTS in the 2nd week of January next year. First deliveries coming very fast in late March/April 2017. Been offered a car for an April delivery.

This means that the GTS will be out before the power kit is available in June which does not make sense based on previous history...but been assured that this is the case.
But if true......you heard it here first.
See post #52 above which flows with what you have been told.

Looks like Detroit auto show is a real possibility.
Yes, NA is sooooooooooo yesterday. Inferior technology. Those poor GT buyers are just crying on the GT3 board. They can't give those GT cars away
+991. It is a shame that the Porsche engineers held out so long on us before delivering the vastly superior turbo engines that all enthusiasts have wanted. I guess if government regulations hadn't forced them to move to turbocharging, we would have continued to suffer and be miserable with the NA engines.
Speaking of Power Kits, Suncoast has em on sale now for $8995 for the 991.1 3.8L. I wish that were an installed price..
At first I was a total non believer in the new small TT engines. But the flesh is weak and I might give in, in a few years if the new GTS proves a winner.
On the other hand, if I could find a deal on a manual Racing Yellow (or maybe Orange, Red, Blue, or White) 991.1 GTS with Aerocup Kit, parking sensors, ventilated seats and hopefully a sunroof, that would be my ideal Porsche.
