I can already imagine Duke moan when he will see they don't make the GTX3584RS in reverse rotation.

Ha! the GTX3584RS would be a nice turbo for a 3.1-3.2L 944 making big power.

They do make the GTX3582R GenII in reverse though. But i don't think the upgrade would be worth another 50Lb/min on the compressor map.

For each new Gen 2 compressor wheel it looks like they sacrificed efficiency over the corresponding Gen 1 compressor wheel just to stretch the compressor map a bit further to the right edge... Not sure I get the point.

Heres a better view of the GTX3067R comparison with the Gen2

LOL!
I spent quite a few hours on my recent vacation looking into this turbo.
Just a week ago I was set on a EFR9180 with Tial housing but now a GTX3584RS seems like the natural choice

...and also sweared a bit when I saw it won't come in reverse rotation

Any significance to the reverse rotation other than having the plumbing a different direction?

I guess twin turbos would look better that way...opposite directions

I've also been thinking about using an EFR for my build.
7163 will be nice, except no twin scroll.
7064 is the bigger frame, flows less but has a twin scroll.
7670 will flow what i need it to flow and has a twin scroll 1.05 But it might be to big.

I know the gtx3071R will be capible to flow enough and spooling up nicely.

On goes the reserch. again.

Any further thoughts on these? Too soon to find many comparos on line. Wonder if the 35 frame is a bolt on replacement / no mods needed type of thing?

As far as i looked at them. The only difference in regards to the turbo is the compressor. Everything else is the same.

Performance wise, no idea. IMO minimal gains, unless you're at the turbos limit and you could use some more air with out compromising the size of the turbo.

Except the GTX3584RS. I think that's a great addition to the turbo line.

I usually wait for Perrin Performance to do a back to back test as they like to do with a fair amount of turbos. and being similar size engines you can sort of have a feel on what'll happen.

Paulyy, I see BW makes a 7163 EFR in a twin scroll .80 IWG. What I read in reviews is that it spools a bit faster than the 7076 but runs out at the top end.

The 35 frame is bolt on replacement. The Garrett v-band turbine housing have different flanges so not a direct replacement for the Tial housings.
But ATP Turbo offers the 3584RS with their own turbine housing that is a 100% direct replacement with the Tial housings. Should be a very good 850-900 hp turbo.

I've had a poor experience with atp housings, I've melted a few t3 twin scroll gt30. They were just not made of a suitable metal.

That's very useful feedback. I guess they are not casted with the same high quaility metal as the OEM stuff. Tial housings work fine and I'm sure the Garrett "Ni-resist" SS housings work good too.

Quick Reply: Garrett GTX-R genII turbos.
