My neighbor has a 1998 911 triple black with 98000 miles. The rms and ims have been done it is a tritronic trans and looks to be in good condition
my question is he is asking 14500.0 and says he is pretty firm on price. Is the car worth this or should I keep looking thanks Jimbo

Likely someone from elsewhere in the world where the first 996 was MY98.
I just don't get where guys coming new into any of these cars have these concerns (in order): 1. price, 2. price, 3. price, 4. price, and 5. price.

You'd probably get better information about those cars in the 996 forum....I am assuming that is what your neighbour has. I am not (like many on these boards) completely negative on the 996. I have done many spirited miles driving them. Within the 911 universe, they are absolutely the least expensive way to get into a swift, comfortable and capable car. Unfortunately (for a seller) the market hasn't been kind to the 996. Many cosmetic touchs haven't been embraced by the used 911 crowd....and that, coupled with many grenading without warning, has given it a harsh rap. $20k for a fresh crate motor makes the economics not particularly compelling on a $15 k car. The good news is a buyer can get an awful lot of car for a seemingly small outlay and a couple of my friends have chosen to go that route to 911 ownership. They drive them, wrench it themselves...and absolutely love them! It's interesting that only just a couple of years ago you could get a mid seventies or early 90s 911 for $15k. Can't find those today. Maybe as our air cooled babies climb in value, it will apply upward pressure on the values of 996s.....hey, ya never know. Cheers
