I'm too short, I can barely see over the wheel....

I can just see over the wheel. My neck hurts after a longer drive because I am straining to see. I am 5'7" but all legs and a short torso. Are there seat pads/ect that are better than the cheap ones I can find from an auto parts store?
The seat will not raise any more on this 1999 C2 and I would prefer not put spacers in just yet (if that is even possible.)
Thanks guys.

The seat will only lower with your weight on it, not raise. Grab the steering wheel and lift your weight off the seat while pulling up the height adjustment lever. It should spring up, bu if it doesn't, maybe from 15+ years of being in the downmost position, get out of the car, grab the seat bottom at the rear from behind/underneath with your right hand and pull up on it while simultaneously pulling up the height adjustment lever with your left hand.

Have you thought about a booster seat?
I'm sure someone on Rennlist has a leather version to match your interior color with a Porsche logo embossed

Ben Z and all the jokesters, the damn lever worked! Go figure It was stiff and I didn't want to break it. I knew I wasn't that short, least that is what my wife says.

Yeah, when I first drove my 996 I was wondering if that seat lever was broken, or what it did, since it didn't do anything while I was sitting in the seat. Luckily, the next day, while I was cleaning my car, I hit the lever and was surprised when the seat shot-up...then I realized what it was for...and adjusted the seat height accordingly.
