Need help with air guide housing support
Beginning to put my euro engine back together and I found that the "bonded rubber buffer" seen on my '78 and on parts manual have turned to this:
Do '83 euro S cis engine come with these metal flat disks in place of earlier rubber supports for the air guide housing?
Thank you for any and all help,
Hoi

No. That is the steel part that is bonded to the rubber buffer, after the two separate.
Hit it with chisel to rotate it counter clockwise and it should unthread.

What you see in the block are the remains of the vibration damper connectors for the whole CIS assembly. They are the same as you've seen before, but the top has detached from the base when the rubber turned to mush. You'll need to use a pair of vice grips to get them out of the block, or cut a slot to use an impact driver. Pics below, show the top half with the rubber disintegrated but still attached, and what you have to get out of the block.
Edit: Jake and Greg beat me to the punch, while I was adding pretty pictures.
