They do very good work. You pay the freight out, they pay the freight back. I have only used the Buena Park office, but know they have offices around the country.
Not here to debate pro or cons of powder coating over painting ive read plenty of threads on that topic...If your interested in powder coating check out Espo's powder coating in SI, not to far from Brooklyn. They do excellent work and he has done many many sets of Porsche wheels. If you want to bring the car he even has a lift and will mount/dismount tires and road force balance.
Specific to refinishing alloy wheels, what are the For Dummies pros' vs con's of powder coating and or painting?
My guess is our Cup II wheels OE finish has color (silver) as paint with an additional paint clear coat layer... However isn't the powder coating process using a like kind color a more durable finish vs paint?
I own a 4 set of the .. back-in-day aftermarket 18 inch Cup II's .. possibly requiring a new or touch up of the OE Porsche silver color finish .. (the wheels are in ATL, GA) In the Atlanta, GA area the name Accurate Alloy comes up having been recommended. http://www.accuratealloy.com - metro Atlanta, GA
I've used Tom (Espo's PC) to do set of Cup II wheels they came out perfect, he even did my metal center caps to match the wheel color. I drove my wheels up from South Jersey and total turn around was three days. The finish was perfect and so far very durable. He was PC'ing a set of GT3 calipers when I was there and the attention to detail was great. He used plugs and properly sized bolts to close up all the holes and piston bores.
Most people have issues with powder coatings high baking temperature and its effect on the structural integrity of the wheel. If the powder coater knows what they are doing its shouldn't be an issue. I would always talk to the powder coater about their experience and the process they use.
