Quick question, will 285 30 ZR18 on 18x10 ET65 fit on my NB?
Hi, i picked up a pair of OEM turbo twist with tires that were on a 996. The rear tire size is 285 30 ZR18s. The wheel is 18x10 ET65 Will those fit my NB? or do I need to down size to 265s?

Depends on ride height, low cars will need to work on the lips, particularly the drivers side, but once that's done they fit fine.

My car is somewhat low....I can tell you this an 18" Enkei rear wheel with a 60mm offset, with a 275 tire will NOT fit and I have had the fenders rolled. BUT, I have run Hoosier 285/30/18 R6 tires and the fit just fine, no rubbing!
there are many other variables besides tire specifications, as tire makes and models will have differences between them. alignment settings, ride height, wheel offset will all have an effect.
I CAN tell you that I have 285/30/18 Sumitomo HTR IIIs on 10x18 MY02s and RS alignment and slightly higher than RS height, and they fit fine.
I say slightly higher than RS height, as I don't really know exactly what it is set at, we just adjusted until it got to a good spot that look good, and wasn't so low that I hit driveways.
since you have them, put them on your car and see what happens.
Thanks everyone for your great feedback. Unfortunately after closer inspection of the tires I will need two new rear tires. I knew one of them needed to be replaced and was hoping I could find a used one, wishful thinking I guess But both rear tires have a nail toward the outer wall. My luck. Well it's disappointing but, but I got a great deal on the wheels so I'm not overly upset.
The current tires are Michelin pilot sport's. The fronts are still very good so most likely I will get two new rear ones. I would love the wider look but I'm not sure if it's worth the hundred plus per tire difference in cost.
Also my car is lowered I am running the Bilstein B8 with HR Springs. I'm not exactly sure of the right height but below are a few picture. That said I'm not sure if I want to take a chance with 285's when 265 are cheaper and will guarantee I have no issues. Boy I do like the look of those fat tires
On those beautiful rear end curves
Toss on the worn tires /rims for fitment . I think 265's will look too small.

What are you guys running in the front? 225's, I assume?
How does handling differ between a 265 and 285 rear tire?
My car is slammed RS height with 18" 285's. I never have issues and didn't role my fenders. Toss on the worn tires /rims for fitment . I think 265's will look too small.
Sharp looking targa. I try the fitment first. But crazy how 285 are so much more in price
Handling... The more rubber in the rear the better in my book. Daily driving it wasn't noticeable, and pushed hard there was a minor improvement. As for price, I run HTR3's. They are pretty inexpensive and handle well, but noisy when hot. However, I only heard the noise at the track.
As another point of reference...my NB car is lowered with 18x10 hollow spoke twists and 285/30 tires. The fronts are 225/40. No rubbing at all. Tough to beat the look of the larger tires.

It doesn't. This is an all-show, no-go kind of thing. Maybe 285's are good for a couple of seconds on the Nurburgring. But in street driving, they just give you worse gas mileage and more tire noise.
