Will do! Mid-Ohio is on my short list of tracks to go to.

Slakker, nice buy!
Welcome to the Never-ending-track-mods Club but you have a great start!
I also use my track car for AX and DEs only. Doing a complete suspension upgrade now.

My daily drivers are pilot super sports in standard 225f/265r which I absolutely love.
For track, I have NT01s 245F/315R that work amazing.
This car came with a set of hankook z214s in 245F/275R that the PO swears will blow away the NT01s in a 315. Spec 996 runs 275 in the rear as well.
Since I'm trailering to the track next Friday, my plan is to take the z214s and nt01s and see which ones feel better. 315 gives you more contact patch but I think 275 may have a little better balance.

I'm late to your party, congrats on your new track car. Can't wait to see how the car is set up for you, and handles with different brand tires. Hope you'll do some videos of your driving as well.

Nice! Congrats! Looks like a beast!
Q: do you have your drop links mounted to the pinch bolts? Or do you have the longer tarett type drop links? The reason I ask is you have a lot of front wheel lift, which an be a symptom of short drop links. I had that on my old 996 and we corrected it with longer drops.

Looks like pinch bolt. What's the other way to do it?

These are their own kind of challenge trying to put back on. Even if I pull the exhaust back off on down the road these will probably get to stay.
Decided to lower the engine to get more room but thanks to this little guy you have to partially drop the sway bar to do it. Hmmmm. I hope he's really doing some good.

My tips are looking a little sad by comparison.

FWIW, the short drop links result in bad suspension geometry. When you are in hard turns, the drop links are bound up and actually tend to lift the inside wheel. At first I though my old car had such a stiff suspension that it was just badassness going on. Come to find out from the spec boxster folks that it was just a setup error. 4 wheels on the ground is generally better.

So are you just extending them out and running the sway bar closer to the LCA? Are you worried about pre loading at all or just length?

That's the preferred way. All track cars should technically have the end links mounted to the shock bodies.
All of Porsche Cup/GT3 cars are setup this way. Same for BMW's as well.
As for preloading, the more your car is lowered, the longer you have to extend your end links to prevent any kind of pre-load. You basically wanna make sure your sway bar sits flat like stock and that there is no load on the end links(easy way is to be able to move the bolt out of the hole easily by hand).
Slakker, are you sure your Moton's are mounted correctly to the spindle? It seems to be mounted further up than what I remember seeing the last time I saw one. I could be wrong since it's been awhile though.

OK, that makes senses. I'll adjust them out and check the loading for now and then look to upgrade drop links on down the line.... Nothing stood out on the install but I'll double check when I'm replacing the front rotors this weekend.
