Stay the course, Kevin. As mentioned earlier, It's natural to get discouraged while you're sorting out a 20 year old car. I would expect some ups and downs over the 6-12 months while you get the car sorted out. It will be worth it.

As a point of comparison, I feel that many systems of the 993 are of a simpler and more robust design than Mercedes of the same era. That's quite a accomplishment by the engineers, IMHO.

Anyway, I had already brought this car and I have to live with it.
Let me assuage your pain, I will take this lemon off your hands for oh, say, $10 grand? I'll even cover shipping to bring it here.

Seriously though, as others have said, don't be discouraged if a few things need sorting on a car of this vintage. FWIW this hose is still in great shape on my vehicle (though I did replace a couple of breather hoses that were getting spongy a couple of years ago).

I was at the auto wrecker's yesterday (my son wanted to get a bmw roundel badge for his driving game steering wheel). Walked past row upon row of fords, gm's, toyotas, hondas etc. Not a single Porsche in the place. Long after most other cars are rotting in the junkyard, yours will be a treasured and timeless classic.

Manere cursum.

It is almost a 20 year old hose. Come on.

Hi Guys, I really need some advise on installing this hose. (No.21&25). No matter how I install it, it still leaks at the oil tank end. I am running out of ideas and hope. Any tips or advices please?

Looking at the old hose(from the picture) and the new hose, seems like their design are different. The new one has some sort of opennings on both end and I think that the oil is leaking from there. too bad that I had already throw the old one away, otherwise I can compare them side by side.

Cheers.

New hose. some sort of openning there and the oil leaks from there I guess.

Did you add that rubber collar labelled #25 ? That doesn't show to be installed in your photo....

Not sure I can visually determine the collar is in place in the photo in post #2.

Think maybe the nipple from the tank is cracked and weeping?

Without that collar 25 it will leak a LOT, ask me how I know. Also it is easy to damage or deform the collar when fitting it.

Thanks for the reply, yes no.25 was installed inside the hose already. Strange that no.25 was already came with the hose when I ordered the hose. I didn't know about that so I also ordered 2x no.25.

I am surprised that it took a lot of force to put the hose on to the oil tank. It looks like an easy job but no, it is the hardest DIY I have encountered so far in this 993.

What I am going to try is to flip the hose around since both ends are identical, install a new collar and install everything again and see. Any other ideas or comment please?
