First time in 25 years that I have parked something worth having at Mom's house.
ROAD TRIP!!!<br/>On the way now...
Change in route. I stayed up waaaaaaaay to late bull****ting with family, so got a late start. I am heading out on the highways instead of US23. That will be another time.
For now, I am heading towards I-75.

I don't know if this has come up: you're not going to trust the gas gauge and will want to use the trip odometer. But the odometer gears go brittle - some never hit the reset button for fear of breaking them. Those more daring will hit it, but never while the car is moving.

Adk46, last night I ran the fuel gauge down to just above R, then filled it up to 4/4. Took a shade under 16 gallons.
I plan on filling up at 1/4.
I have heard about the brittle odometer gears. This one has been replaced, but I am nervous to reset it.
Alright, unscheduled stop to hit a fire hydrant. Realized I screwed up the map app. I am now in Xenia. 😡
Crap. Now heading towards Dayton and I-75.
The Red Witch is running great! On the road, the temp gauged stays at the first white line, and oil pressure stays pegged.
Sitting, the temp gauge slowly creeps up near halfway above the first line, and oil pressure is around 3.5bar.
Before I left, I put a bottle of SeaFoam in the fuel tank and a bottle of STP oil treatment in the engine to go with the Mobil 1 15W-50.
Now, time to eat some miles.

Forgot to mention the only real hiccup I've seen. Last night and today, either the 'coolant level', left 'tail light', or 'stop lamp' warning indicators have been ON, with the Central Warning lamp ON as well.
Each time I check, they are false conditions. Coolant level is fine in the new tank. And, Auto Assets put in a new level switch as well. So, I would hope it would be fine.
When I get home, I am going to start cleaning grounds and checking bulbs.

Raining in Kentucky<br/>Zero problems rolling along at 80mph, following a later 911 cabriolet.
Pit stop in London, Kentucky for fuel, food, stretch, and fire hydrant.
This car wants to RUN! We've been doing 80 pretty much the whole way. The Red Witch is just humming along.
I LOVE the sound of the RMB under load. Cruising along, give it some coal and the deep rumble goes up a notch.
I have filled up a little early, just because I stopped. Averaged 19.4mpg for this leg. Not bad.
I do have one thing I have noticed. The console is getting warm. The window switches and surrounding area feel warm. The shifter surround feels a little warm. The ash tray and cigar lighter feel very warm. If I remember reading correctly, a cause could be hot engine air blowing in past torqu tube foam...
Anyway, I'm off again.

Seth, Both my cars are hot around the console. The S4 maybe worse. I tend to believe it has turned into an "urban legend" about the odometer gears. If they are on their way out ie. turning to mush, they will go anyhow. Pushing the odo button reset just pushes it over the edge.

Ugh. Hot. Am now sitting at a gas station of I-40E near Pigeon Forge.
Came out of a nasty stop-n-go traffic jam.
Learned the Red Witch's fan clutch is probably inop. Temp crept up towards the second white line. It maintained just below the line, and dropped back to normal once we got moving.
Just before the traffic jam, I tried the A/C. The button popped off and flew somewhere.
I didn't mess with the A/C while in the jam.
Now, at the gas station, I found the button and reinstalled it.
It lights up, A/C is trying to work.
Now to get moving again.

I'm not 100% sure what is "supposed" to happen in a situation like that, but with my car, I've found that can happen, and it seems fine. Temps creeping up near the second white line and never quite reaching it has been pretty normal for stop-n-go in hot weather (or in long drive-thru lines lol). It may be that we both need to refill our viscous fan clutches, but also I think it's a factor of a more-or-less linear temp gauge. I remember the temp gauge in my RX-7 was useless, because in an effort to not alarm dumb drivers, they made it an idiot light, in effect. Natural variations in temps would cause no movement of the gauge. Which is really, really dumb (especially for a car like the RX-7 which was so sensitive to overheating, but I digress). Ours aren't like that, but I'll admit it took me a bit to get over the anxiety of watching that gauge move around.

Hmmm...just realized my sense of location and depth perception are a bit off.<br/><br/>The hose still reached. 😝
Looks like I need a new gas cap.<br/>And key fob.
This road trip is just about done.
