I would recommend a dual system with radar defense and laser. I have the Bell STiR (same as escort but without the laser jammers) and the AL Priority laser defense. A bit more expensive than just the escort but much better laser defense.
Here are some pics.
- LED alert concealed in dash. Radar on left laser on right.
- radar display in rear view.
- 2 laser jammers (I mean parking sensors ) in front and back. Back was put in as LEOs are shooting from behind on occasion.
I love the system.
Nice! Who did the install for you again?
Couple of questions:
- On the ALP, did you consider going for the completely remote install with the Bluetooth module (i.e. Just controlling it through the phone app)?
- With the Stir+, how do you find it with the falsing? I don't think it has the GPS which is why I haven't jumped from the escort yet.
very nice. I had to go with rear view mirror display in the Cab.
How is your display visibility with the top down? Last time we used the mirror on a Cab it was washed out pretty bad by the sun. This is what we currently do:

Thanks! Very pleased with the system. I had it installed at Lotts in Santa Cruz. The ALP system didn't have the Bluetooth module when I installed so that wasn't an option at the time. I set up the STiR with x band and K band off as they aren't used in CA and trigger lots of false alerts. KA band is sent to the 3 frequencies that LEOs use. It does have a GPS module but I don't get much use out of it. It's a quiet system that doesn't give a lot of false positives, has great protection and is pretty stealth.

No problems with display visibility in day or night. My installer sent the rear view unit out to a 3rd party for custom install.
is your ALP setting to shut down after 4 seconds so the LEO can get a reading after slowing down? I'm curious if that is too long. Considering going to a 3 second auto shutdown.
I personally set it to unlimited jam time and just manually kill the system each time. I find the 60sec reset to be a big long and annoying, the only way to by pass it is by enabling unlimited jam time

are you running a dual or triple in the front? I have been hearing a lot about running triple in the front is the way to go when dealing with variable pulse rate guns, something about at least 2 sensors have to see the incoming pulse for the system to jam these guns properly

I have been told that the larger the vehicle the more sensors you would need. A big Ford F150 would need 3 or 4 but a smaller front on a 911 only requires 2. You want them closest to the center where a license plate would be (if you had a front plate). If you use the tow hook to mount your plate I would recommend 3 shifters in that unique case. LEOs target the plate as it reflects the laser best.

Only duals in front. Installing the rears this week, thanks to Nick @ Musicar.
