I was changing my brake hoses and saw this piece broken. Looks like some kind of link. Need to get a new one I suppose.

That looks similar to the headlight leveling sensor in my old GTI. Does the 997 have something similar?

It appears to me to be part #99734137501. Here is a link to it on the ECSTuning website: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...d/99734137501/.

If you look at the second image on their web page you can see the number on the arm itself appears to match. Also, here it is in a parts diagram as part #20. Of course, please confirm all of this yourself before buying!

(I have the afternoon off and had some time so I was challenged by a good hunt!)

#21 is the piece that is broken, by the way.

Good eye! I was looking at the rubber boot at the top of the photo... I missed the disconnect at the bottom. Sorry about that... and thank you Iceter.

Here is a link to that: https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...h/99634137103/. That's even better since it is only around $5 even at dealership prices. It looks like the boot on the piece mentioned earlier is goners too though.

I'm impressed with your sleuthing. What is that thing, by the way? It looks like a sway bar end link but in the pics it appears to be connected to some kind of sensor. Is that PASM-related? Some kind of ride-height sensor?

Thanks! It seems to be a body roll and maybe suspension bump sensor and is briefly discussed in an article here: http://www.total911.com/porsche-acti...ent-explained/

Going back and looking at the previous links I sent, the ECS Tuning site describes that last part described in post 5 above as the "Headlight Level Sensor Strut Support". So I guess my last post (7) was wrong... unless it happens to do both.

Thank you all for that excellent sleuthing! It is the articulated Rob and the strut. Thanks StromRue and Iceter. I'll have to make a trip out to LA Dismantler and pick up these items. I did have a dickens of a time getting the strut off the LCA though. I punched it out but it flew up and now I can't find it so I'll have to buy the two items.

Thanks again for the speedy reply.

Just FYI: Even at dealer prices both of these are only around $32 + tax. For that little, wouldn't you prefer to get nice shiny ones with fresh rubber on the boots and save a drive all the way up to Sun Valley... unless you are planning on driving on up to the Crest highway while you are there!?
