Default Sport Techno and Turbo Wheels

I spent some time yesterday changing out the winter wheel set which are Dunlop Winter Sport on 996 turbo wheels back to the Sport Technos the car came with. I assume the Sport Technos have been powder coated by a PO. Any feedback on whether it would be feasible to have them restored to a stock painted look or has that ship sailed? The finish on these isn't bad but there is some curbing on the rears especially.

I called Porsche about the same thing... Apparently, Borbet and BBS were the OEM sourced manufacturer of the 996 Turbo Twist and Sport Techno wheels and unfortunately, are no longer making them. Porsche had a few left in stock, but they were over $1000 each. I about fell out of my seat. I can buy brand new BBS wheels for half that amount.

And so, I looked into refinishing the wheels and found that you can take them to body shops and have them sanded and repainted. If the wheels are bent, then that will take a special shop. However, they quoted me $175 per wheel to sand and repaint.

i am not a paint expert but i don't see why these wheels can't be refinished and repainted

your pic also reminds me how nice the 996tt's look... sweet design, angular yet curvy

no use to paint, the paint will scrape off when you put tires on and off, you have to powddercoat , back to stock color is my preference

What do you think the factory does? Paint or powder coat?
