Default WTB advice, looking for a convertible

Just sold my 560SL and I'd like to replace it with another convertible. First thoughts would be a 996TT but I think they have been priced out of my budget already. I'd prefer something later model than a 964/993 due to maintenance costs. The car will not be driven more than a thousand miles a year and anything air-cooled gets too expensive to warrant keeping it next to other stuff I don't use. I like the Alfa Romeo 4C but, well its a big Fiat 500 and I already have one of those. Depreciating assets don't make me too happy so a modern classic type of vehicle may work. One that has already lost significant value. Manual transmission preferred, good A/C a must, comfortable seats as well. Budget around $25-30K and I'll travel.

I looked at those but I've had a few bad experiences with Audi's in the past.

If you keep looking you might find the 996TT. I have seen some pretty close to your price range (maybe not convertibles) with higher mileage.

Jason- have you looked at E36 M3 convertibles? Great cars with handling to match. I think they may have bottom out, and may be on the upswing value wise. I've had a few of these in Coupe form FWIW.

I like the M3's a lot and they're on the shortlist. Don't they have interior trim type issues? I'd really love to find a 996TT Cab!

I'd suggest a 335i convertible. I had a 2013 I gave up recently---great all around car, handles well, good examples in your prize range (2012-2013) --far prefer styling and feel to the Audi and twin turbos go 0 to 60 in the low 5 second range. M3 is obviously more car but you've got the old M3 engine in the 335i (e55) anyway

BMW Z4? Should be around half your budget depending on the year and at a great spot on the depreciation curve.

No idea what it's like to live with one though.

I'd suggest a BMW M roadster with the S54 engine (2001-02 model years).
Nice styling, amazing engine, still comfy enough for easy cruising. With your budget, you should be able to get a nice low mileage one.
