Alarm controller location for early 1988 S4 ?
EDIT...I assumed alarms were standard on S4s. Wrong.
My car was built 7/87. Below is a photo of the bracket where I expected to find the controller mounted with a clip.

Well...I was chasing my tail. I assumed all S4s had a standard alarm (it's got standard ABS, so why wouldn't have a standard alarm? ). Anyway...I decided it was time to finally search for the simple answer in the simplest of places....the sticker under the hatch with the codes. Unfortunately, the amplifier and external crossovers (overkill that doesn't sound as high-end as the component brands suggest) has to be removed to access the sticker. First I looked in the glove box and found this sticker in the service & maintenance book.
The VIN on the sticker matches my car, so I skipped removing the stereo gear and looked up the codes on the 928 Specialists website. My car does not have a factory alarm (DOHHH!). Two of the codes confirm the 12-way option for left and right seats. Nothing else remarkable.
