I finally decided to do it! The car goes into the shop tomorrow to transplant a 1981 5 speed. The synchros are being replaced, the TT rebuilt, and all rubber/wear parts are supposed to be replaced....

A couple of thoughts:

-most of these cars are 20+ years old now. Parts are going to break and/or wear out occasionally. Parts aren't cheap and if you can't do the work yourself neither is labor...
