Yes. Mine came with an adapter to work with the old style round connector. It was originally designed for the 928, which predated OBD2 by a long shot.

I've used the Z coated Zimmermanns on both the 993 and BMW. I've noticed no difference in performance from OE. I've probably been through 4 sets over the past few years (thanks to the track pads).
