Ken ... I have a set of 10 inch Circlip pliers that I used to remove the clips on my rear hubs.... Harbor Freight sells them for around $10, but if you want to borrow mine I'll be happy to lend them...

Check your grounds ..... Mine had the same problem, found the ground wire attached to the intake was loose.... Tightened / cleaned and the problem went away.
