Check the 911S, 911E or 911T registry as applicable. You can narrow down the build date by looking at serial numbers near yours. I assume Germans would build their cars in serial number order.

Pound per horsepower is a big indicator of 0 to 60 times. Compare those numbers for your car and your buddy's. Gearing also has a big impact on acceleration.

I was going to suggest you check the DME relay and power to the DME unit.

My car, a 1970 911E, received an engine transplant some time in the mid 70s or early 80s. I have no record of where it came from, but the donor car was a 1972T. The car was probably from Washington...

I think the "tribute" is going the wrong direction. People are taking later cars and making a tribute to the earlier cars (ala Singer). It would have been more valuable to do the same level of care...
