An amazing amount of 928's have thrown connecting rods or had the engines stick, immediately after a "rebuild".

While I'm sure a certain percentage of those failures are from bearing clearance...

An air pump requires such little amounts of power to turn, I'm amazed anyone would bother removing one.

And rebuilt pumps are cheap enough that anyone who owns a 928 should be able to afford one....

The metal problem is terrible. Every stud or bolt hole needs an insert...and there didn't used to be thread repair kits in British Standard or Witworth...not sure about today.

Tap the very top flat part with a chisel in the counter clockwise direction...should loosed the broken off part of the rubber mount enough to unthread it with your fingers.

So, the outside of the spark plugs had water/coolant sitting around them....that's the corrosion on the metal. Note that this stain on the spark plugs is not coolant from the inside of the engine!

The major difference between a Porsche damper with perfect rubber and on of my custom ATI dampers is more than just a better design damper.

Porsche made the damper a "slip fit" on the crankshaft....

The A/C belt "counteracts" the pull from the alternator belt, which pulls on the nose of the crankshaft very hard.

The custom high output alternator I make has a "free-wheeling"...
