Another data point is I replaced the clutch slave with a new one. If it was defective then I assume it would not work for any gear?

Some great thoughts. I have not tried to drive it in the gear that I think is reverse but moves the car forward. I am able to put it in first and drive and it and it feels like first so....whatever...

No grinding, it finds the slot (next to first) and when i release the clutch she moves forward. I bled to try and remedy. Thanks

I could be wrong, but I believe the jb weld goes on first then the ring over the weld? It's how I did mine fwiw, still dry after 15k.
