By the way, new fans also come with a new bearing. I've replaced both of mine. One was getting flaky at the tips and the other had some cracks in the fan base.

How old or new, are your distributor caps and rotors? Same for the spark plug wires? It still seems like you have a high voltage leak somewhere. The coils were the logical starting point.
