Good suggestion, but the tank is not full. Oil level is at the half full point by the dipstick. I wouldn't have used only the gauge to check oil level.

Yes, there is a DIY on one of the Porsche websites, I'll try to find it for you. There is a tab that must be bent or modified and the wiring has to be matched, but do-able.
