The ONLY reason why 928 plug wires do not get changed very often is the EXPENSE !!!! And having leakey wires becomes a disaster when a fuel line lets go.....

The pilot bearing would be spinning with the crank but so is the short clutch shaft so the bearings are not spinning in the race. It only has to work when the clutch is depressed and the clutch shaft...

Right the roughly 17 % silicon of the alloy used for the actual block (which is part of why it is somewhat brittle) also makes it a challenge to weld. The lower cradle is a more normal aluminum mix.

It can be done.....only creative part is fitting a 87 up timing ring to the early style double disc clutch smaller fly wheel. It might also need the rear suspension cross member swapped too.
