That was the first sign I noted before my oil consumption increased and ultimately led to the diagnosis of bore scoring. If this is just starting to occur, you may want to look further ( or not)

Engine always used alot of oil since purchased new but always in spec. Never tracked. Started burning 1 quart / tank. Ultimately found multiple worn cylinders....

Agree, my 2006 997S uses about 1 quart per 1000 miles, but there is no doubt that the harder it is driven the more oil it uses.
