Default About to buy, but a question

I'm just about to buy a 2009 Boxster S out of Winnipeg. The VIN is WP0CB29889S730140

The VIN says the car is a 2009 Boxster S which, I believe, should be a 3.4L 3436cc fuel injected engine. I am just about to close the deal and noticed his advertisement states "3.4L 3387CC H6 GAS DOHC Naturally Aspirated" engine.

Is that possible? One of the reasons I was seeking a 2009 or above was that the engine no longer had the IMS issues.

Can anyone enlighten me?

Unless it is Turbo charged, it is a normally aspirated, fuel injected engine.

2009 and later, the motor was changed and improved, and there is no longer an intermediate shaft, thus no troublesome bearing.

As well, and totally unrelated, it is a direct fuel injected engine.More power, better consumption, less pollution.

I have a 2009 C2S, primarily because the IMS issue has been eliminated. The engine is more powerful, smoother and hopefully more reliable.

You are buying the correct Boxster.

BOXSTERS have only become turbo charged this year.
They were always normally aspirated engines.
I think all Porsches came with direct fuel injected engines in 2009, to meet more stringent environmental issues.

Why not seek some information about different engine technology?
There is a vast array of information available on line.

Ok, thanks. Any reason for the discrepancy in engine displacement?

Default Typo

I should have stated, "NATURALLY aspirated engine. (NOT 'normally')

A turbocharger, or a supercharger creates a FORCED INDUCTION engine.

Hi Dano1234
09 Boxsters/Caymans have the 9A1 engine designation. The base Boxster has a 2.9l non DFI, while the S versions have DFI in the 3.4l.
08s had the M97.21 engine designation with IMS bearings.
If you are satisfied with the PPI - pull the trigger and enjoy

Thank you. I've confirmed it's a DFI engine. I'm picking it up next week and driving it home from Winterpeg. It'll give me a good opportunity to get acquainted with it.
