you will be confirmed most likely sometime next week.
Mosport is the second fastest track in North America after Road Atlanta.
Mosport has mostly high speed blind turns with turn 2 being double apex off camber.
It is truly a great track and has undergone some big improvements with new owners in the past few years.
I love it but October weather can be iffy. Mosport has its own weather system.
they recently opened up a new toll highway that saves about 10 mins if coming from the West and this year the 407 highway new section is free. you enter in Oshawa.

most of the UCR guys don't go on this forum (which is mostly Montrealers). we go on the main Canada forum so if you want better response from UCR guys post there or on the UCR website forum.

Good point but actually wanting to know if our Local Montreal/Ottawa PCA Rennsport members would be going down

Turbodan was right. I just received confirmation from the UCR registrar. I wonder if their spots fill up like ours do? I was planning to look for youtube videos but I did the same for LCMT in April and the truth is, there is no substitute for driving the track.

@Turbodan. If I wanted to go out with an instructor at first can I assume a letter to the registrar is the way to get that to happen? This would be my second event as a solo driver and on a new track as well. I'm guessing that familiarizing myself with a UCR instructor in the right seat is a smart and safe strategy. Safety is stressed so often at Rennsport that it is one of my prime considerations.

Tom

No matter your level at RSR, you will
Always be with an instructor for a few sessions until he/she feel you can drive solo. This is my understanding

Tom, I would be surprised if a newly signed off driver on a new to him track starts without an instructor.
Best thing to do is what you suggested- ask for an instructor.

Tom: I run Blue with RSR and I have been assigned white run group with UCR , eventhough, I have already asked Sheri at UCR to please ensure there be an instructor for me as I will not even attempt Mosport solo . I rather learn the line and be OKed by a PCA instructor. I think this will make for a much better experience. After all , the whole point of driving different tracks is to LEARN them and experience the various technicalities .

My 2 cents

An exciting new adventure, sounds like fun! Looking forward to hearing the stories and seeing the pictures to help chase away the winter blues!

I've been assigned a new number so I guess I'll have to remove my RSR numbers and go back to blue painter's tape for the 1 event.

I've also been assigned to the yellow run group. In Rennsport that means driving solo but with the greens. I understand that UCR has two instructed run groups, green and yellow so i assume I'll get an instructor automatically. I'll fire off a letter to see if that's the case.

@Sergio. Do you have some contact info to point me in the right direction.

Exciting stuff. Still doing road trips at 50. Gotta be a sign that I'm doing something right in my life.

Still have to decide where to stay. Rick suggested a bed and breakfast. I'll look into that. I'll try to stay away from wherever those crazy leather chaps/thong wearing Rennspoon guys are staying. They scare me. ;-)

Both regions offer quality instruction and greatly emphasize safety, in my opinion. We are spoiled, in the Northeast.
