Road trip to Canada
We are planning a road trip to Canada, in July, from Tarpon Springs , Fl.(west coast). About a 16 day trip. Taking I 95 to Main , then L on to Quebec.
Would like to drive on scenic and curvy roads, PCA socials, etc. Non of this is edged in stone ,. After Quebec, Montreal , Ottawa, and Toronto , via N. Falls , on the way back home.
The plan is to l leave at the end of June, so to be in Canada before the 4th of July.
Have never been on this end of Canada. The East side.
Any thoughts and ideas are very welcome.
cheers ,
peter

Hello Peter,
Since you enter by I95, Maine. I would suggest to drive trough New-Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Cape Breton Island as well. It will be longer but it certainly worth it. In Cape Breton Island, the "Cabot Trail" is my preferred scenic route in Canada.
Otherwise, and if Time permit, I would suggest taking the ferry between Trois-Pistoles and Les Escoumins and take the scenic route to Tadoussac (wonderfull wales watching), La Malbaie (See the casino there), drive toward Quebec but take the tour of Ile d'Orleans, then Quebec, pass by my place, then Montreal, etc.
I've been to all thoses places, so if you need more info/photos of thoses, just PM me. There will be a few places where English is limited but that will just add to the charm ;-)
Have a good trip!
Pierre

sa va ? Thank you so very much , that was very nice of you to make those suggestions , sounds very interesting. My french is " com si comsa" , beginners french, I spent some time in Brussels, years ago, in the 70's,, I really like the language. I just can't write it.
We also thought of doing some tent camping , between some Motel nights.
I shall look up the places you mentioned . I may take you up on those pics and more info, thanks.

Hi Peter,
You will find that most of the people working in restaurant and hotels speak enough english to get by. Between Québec City and Montréal you should take route 138 following the St-Lawrence River it is very nice and lots of places to stop on way and close to the highway if you want to rush to Montréal. Have a nice trip!!

Hi Peter, Hwy 1 is definitively on my list, I've been a few times in the Bay Area but never drove it.
If you like camping and hiking, you will like the Cape Breton National Park and Cabot trail. There is a lot of hiking trails in the park. Here is a picture I took on on of thoses trails where you can see the twisty road, the trail name is Skyline, you can undestand why with the picture. and don't hesitate to pm if you need info.

Well the route has been modified slightly , getting off I 95 at Hwy 1 near Portland Me. , to wards Camden , then on to NS , and the Cabot trail, camping between hotel nights.
When and where would the currency change be made?
before or after crossing the border ?
