Seeking advice on Nitto 01 tires
I would like to obtain some input on subject tires for DE events at LCMT.
I am thinking about installing 245 and 315 on my 04 GT3
Thanks in advance
Derek

I ran them last season after switching from street tires. You were running Trofeo's? I think they'll have less grip but they're a great tire for the price. Not recommended on the street (noisy, and they go slick pretty quick).

DRPM,
The Nittos are the perfect to the track, drive (quick!) at the track, go home tire for the 6GT3.
What I'm using and staying with.
Less noisy than Toyo R888s but not as good in the rain, faster in the dry.
If you find something better, let me know.

Derek,
The NT01s make for an excellent DE tire.
Cheaper than any r compound out there.
Tough as nails.
Relatively consistent through through tread wear.
Not overly sensitive to pressures.
Get better as they wear, right down to the cords.
Folks say they are roughly 2 seconds slower than R6s at their peak (2min lap).
Maybe... But until the prize structure changes for winning a DE, why would anyone spend twice as much on tires that last half as long?
With that said, I will be ready to compare another track value proposition in the form of BFG R1, just for the sake of higher track wisdom.

The rear tire sizing sounds suspect but it is nominally small.
It is in fact close to a 315/30 in R6 size.
My understanding is that a 305 was to become available in the softer R1s compound.

For what it's worth,i did 60+ heat cycles in two seasons with my Nittos ...
Puma, give Karl a call at Perry Auto in Laval, his prices match the Tire Rack and you don't have the hassles of getting them shipped.
For anybody wanting to try BFG R1's,i have two sticker 235/40/17's for sale at a great price, all you need is to buy two rears and you're all set.
I'm selling them because i decided to go with 245/40/17's instead !
Cheers
