RSR group promotion
If you happen to be a demonstrably fast and experienced driver, can you be promoted directly to Blue or higher groups? If yes, how do you go about it?

If I remember when you register for the first time at a DE they ask you your track experience, you can also ask the instructor staff to evaluate you.

IIRC Jorg Bergmeister (oops it was van Overbeek) was initially put in green several years ago for an event at Tremblant.
It is possible to be evaluated and put into a higher run group but hasn't happened that often.
You may be surprised by the swiftness of the white and blue run groups.

987 - If you have no experience with PCA, you will end up in Green and if you are experienced be promoted immediately provided there is room in the higher group.
If you have experience with PCA then you are likely to start in a higher group. If no experience at Tremblant, or Calaogie (depends on the event) you'll get a check ride with an instructor who will show you the right way around.
Best,

I have 30+ events at Tremblant but only 2-3 days with PCA.
Last year, I started in Green and was promoted to white run group immediatly (which I found painfully slow) someone mentioned that I had to do 3 additional events minimum before being reevaluated. Is that the rule?
What kind of laptimes do the Blue groups run at LCMT? I am running anywhere from low to high 1:55's on regular Pilot sports and quicker on R comps

There is no rule about a minimum time in a group. Timing at DE is forbidden. One of the things that can hold a driver back is etiquette - DE is not racing and we share the track with our friends - not competitors.
When you register make sure you note your experience. Which PCA event(s) did you do? Rennsport or another region? How about the other events? BMW, something else?

I can do an honest 2:07, but I need a bit of bump drafting from the car behind...
Seriously, I really appreciate courteous drivers and I don't hesitate to point by the faster cars.
Not much help to the OP, but I just felt like sharing.
Best,
Matt

I do remember a former pro driver getting the ticket to the blue run group right away, which I think was just normal. The guy ended up in the black run group quite quickly, and I ran with him and he was courteous as any other RSR driver. That's the key, I think. And try not to be too foolish.

Someone who shall remain nameless put Johannes VanOverbeek in Green
I had the pleasure of signing him off to Black (right away!) and showing him around our track. Very nice guy and all the Flying Lizard drivers were great sports on the track.
In the race the next weekend he was turning 1:38s. Nice.
