Default Need buying advice quickly!

Looking for some advice if anyone can help. I have a chance to buy a 997.2 in Cambridge ON for seemingly a great price. The problem is, I’m in NS and the dealer won’t take a deposit to hold the car before I can get there to see it and get a borescope done.. It’s had a PPI from Furtmair including an electronic Balance test, (which passed) but no borescope. There are at least 2 other people coming to see the car tomorrow and I suspect I’m going to lose it.
How necessary is the borescope for a 997.2? Am I being too paranoid or am I right to hold off?
i should note that this was a 1 owner car from Ontario.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

All I can say is that dealers know what cars are worth. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. A reputable dealer should be willing to give a refundable deposit subject to inspection. Take your time and do your PPIs. If not this one, there will be others.

I just sold of one my 911s. A buyer (who arrived too late for mine) had put a deposit on a 997.2 at a Rolls-Royce dealer. It turns out virtually every panel on the car had been painted, in spite of a clean CarFax.

When buying Porsche, make sure you buy a good one!

Thanks for the reply. The car was still available this morning so it’s going to Furtmair tomorrow for a PPI which I’m happy to pay for. I don’t put much faith (if any) in Carfax but I think it can give you a snapshot if there are good records. This car is a one owner, Ontario car with a fair bit of service history. It also has a Tubi exhaust which I don’t know much about.
I asked Uli to do a borescope, Engine over rev range report, diagnostic trouble code, etc. I’ll let you know how it goes. My fingers are crossed that it’s a solid C2.

If it's an non S model... I wouldn't worry about bore scoring.... I would be more inclined to know why it's so cheap and the dealership selling it as 997.2 are low in inventory.

Hey thanks for the reply. I actually pulled the trigger on it, picking it up Thursday. I had in Indy Porsche specialist go over the car completely. Engine is good, everything else is good as well as far as he can tell. I jumped at it pretty quickly after the PPI as I know it’s a good deal for an 09’. I’ll post up some pics when I get it home.

I certainly will. I think the previous owner must have owned a couple of car dealerships (possibly) judging by the Carfax service reports.

Yes it did! Picked it up in Cambridge and drove it back to NS. 17 hr. drive and zero issues. I couldn’t be happier with the car. I haven’t had a chance to snap any pics yet but I’ll post as soon as I do.
