Ready for the engine swap!
My broken motor is now perched on 2 furniture carts and ready to be stripped of all the salvageable ancillaries! New engine is waiting for me at the border.
Gregster, I need to remove my LN IMS from my old engine. Since it cost me a grand, I’d like to see if it is salvageable!
There will be a video of all this coming soon for those of you who are interested!
cheers, James

How do you remove the bearing? I read somewhere that pulling it using the inner race can flat-spot the *****. Would it be safer to split the crankcase to remove it?

I would like to think that the LN designed tool can extract their thousand dollar bearing without damaging it. However, I don’t really know if it’s not already toast given the amount of metal debris that I have discovered so far! You’re right though, an easy way to safely remove it would be by splitting the case. Good idea.

Bearing sits in the shaft, not in the case halves. It should come out pretty easy, they aren't in tight. I'm not sure if they are reusable or not though. Might want to check with LN.

Yes, I thought that if the bearing looked good, I might send it to LN for verification. I’d call them first though.

So I pulled the LN IMS pro out of the engine (thanks for the tool Gregster!). I'm going to send it to LN for evaluation. It wasn't impacted but I'm afraid some metal shavings may have taken their toll.
