Some news!
No new news here, so let's add some.
Had a great time at LCMT July event and thanks to all the volunteers and organizers!
So now I'm preparing for my first August event. Having so much fun running in white after about 9 years in green! Now with my r-compound tires and increased confidence I take great pleasure in running with the big boys in my sweet little Boxster S! Yeah, they still blow my doors off on the straights, but I can hang with the best in the Esses!
The M96 engines don't seem to like the increased lateral g-forces happening now with stickier tires. (Especially effected are the mid-engine cars. Boxster Cayman). My CEL was winking at me occasionally when I was hot in some corners. Installing new oil pressure and temperature gauges to monitor the situation and tweaking the oil levels to see what effect that has. I drive this car all the time, so I didn't really want to get into the accusump et al. (Ken W will smile as he has previously teased me about always working on my car!)
Hope you are enjoying our rather odd summer and hope to see many of you in a few weeks!

At the moment I'm using an X51 baffle in the stock sump. I see that the Mantis unit is essentially a deep sump but it uses the stock baffles? Not sure why.

The Mantis deep sump , uses the stock baffle which is a later design, than the X51 baffle which was designed in 1999. The stock baffle seals much better, used with the windage tray, which comes with the deep sump kit. CFD studies have been done with a university

I'm running those same tires and am very pleased! A definite step up from the PS2's that I had before! I've not had any smoke bombs with this car. I'm running the oil level 2 bars low to avoid choking the aos, and that seems to be working. I think the pressure is dropping with the now higher corner forces and hence the deep sump installation.
