Wow, what a great thread! I haven't understood a word of it!
What's a bansky? How does that relate to the grafitti? How on earth does steve know the location of a piece of obscure grafitti?

Bankys is an excellent "guerilla artist" who first got noticed when clever, witty stencilled bits of art started showing up here and there - I think Bristol first, then London? You may have seen in the news where someone drew windows on the Israel/Palestine wall apparently looking into tropical scenes? That was him. He sneaked reworked pieces of art into various museums and just stuck them on the walls and waited for them to be noticed. He hid some Guantanamo Bay (sp?) prisoner dummies into some of the Disneyland rides. And so on... If you do a search on him you'll find quite a lot nowadays. His work is quite distinctive. I took some photos when I lived in New York for a while and the style is very simalar so I need to check whether he ever had a holiday there!
I got in to him after having loved the artwork on Dead Kennedy's albums where seemingly innocuous pictures of old dears would be superimposed against scenes of nuclear destruction.
Do a google and enjoy!
Cheers,
David

Always good to find another fan. I recently came across a relatively official live performance CD when I was in the US which is really good quality. Excellent stuff!

OK, I will confess . . . the reason I want some help is that I plan to use Banksy for the graphics for my race car. I want to put the rat painting "It's not a race" across my hood graffiti style. Too funny to have a Magrittesque reference that simultaneously makes fun of the fact that my willing participation in the rat race is what allows me to participate in this ridiculous hobby in the first place.
I plan to cut stencils and then spray on the graphics with black and white semi-permanent car paint, which can be removed with elbow grease and soap, or else I will get the graphics printed on vinyl sheets. In any event, I would like to get a high-definition picture of the "It's not a race" rat if possible.
I bought the Banksy book, and I have searched the Internet, but I have yet to find a really nice high-def picture taken straight on.
I was wondering whether any of you had a picture already, or whether you would be willing to go take one for me. In light of Banksy's view of intellectual property, and property in general, I do not feel guilty in the least . . .
Please let me know.
Thanks.
