993 Major service - OPC wants 900 squid??
Does anyone know what a 24000 mile service entails?
I want to make sure that what OPC are giving me and what I can get from an independant are the same thing.
Main diff between the 24k and the 12k seem to be resetting valve clearances...

I know its a desperate remedy, Surj, but the handbook details all elements of services ...... ;-))
The major difference 12 - 24 K miles is the plugs, hopefully all of them .....
Large pieces need to be removed to get to all the plugs, which is why it is a little more, and why they often don't all get changed ......
Hydraulic lifters are the major engine difference to the 964 - no adjustment is possible, so I am a trifle bemused by that ! Which specialist are we discussing?
Oh, BTW, I had a 48K service (@30K) last year, including changing hydraulic fluid in brake and clutch systems, gearbox oil change etc for <£900 quids, but supplied my own engine oil and plugs (£140 or so)..

993 Handbook 24K = 12K + Replace ATF filter and fluid, Spark plugs, both oil filters
48K = 24K + Replace fuel filter + manual transmission oil + oil in axle drive

what area of the country do you live? i would recommend going to a good specialist. OPCs really arn't interested in the older cars and going to a good reconnised specialist will not effect the value of your car.

Listen - I'm a seasoned professional in IT and I NEVER RTFM!!
Anyway - it was the OPC that was going on about the valve adjusting (threw me completely b/c I thought they were hydraulic too!).
Anyway, car is booked in with JZ for a service and and Roock performance chip (which just happens to come to the same price as the OPC service!!).
sheesh - rtfm he says....

Sounds like the better way to go.
What kind of performance increase does the roock chip give.
Are you adding any other performace enhancers with the chip for further increase in performance.
